Privacy Policy

words.expert is a website and a browser extension for learning English words with spaced repetition. This policy explains what data they use and why. We do not sell data, show ads or use analytics or tracking services.
Data we store
- Account: your email address and name. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication (email and password, or Google sign-in); we never see your password.
- Learning data: the words and meanings in your list, your decks, review history and schedule, statistics and settings.
- Feedback: messages you send through the feedback form, with your name and email, so we can reply.
- AI keys: if you add an API key for AI analysis (Claude, ChatGPT and others), it is saved in your account settings so it works on all your devices, and is used only to send your own AI requests.
- Extension key: if you connect the browser extension, a hash of your personal extension key (the key itself is shown to you only once).
- Technical data: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and your browser's local storage, which keeps a copy of your data so the site works fast. Our web server keeps standard access logs.
The browser extension
- The extension runs on the pages you visit so that you can double-click or select an English word. It does not read or send page content on its own.
- Only the word or short phrase you select (up to four words) is sent to words.expert to look up its translation; when you press "+ Learn" or "Ask to add", that word is added to your list or to our "not in dictionary" list.
- The extension stores your extension key and your display preferences in the browser's extension storage. It sends nothing to anyone except words.expert.
Third-party services
- Google Firebase Authentication — sign-in.
- Google Fonts, Google gstatic and jsDelivr — fonts and program libraries loaded by the website.
- YouGlish and YouTube — pronunciation videos, loaded only when you open them on a word card. These services may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
- Links to Cambridge, Merriam-Webster and Oxford dictionaries open their own websites.
Where the data is kept and for how long
Your data is stored on our own server and kept while your account exists. You can ask us to delete your account and all your data at any time; we will do it within 30 days.

You can ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted. Write to us through the feedback form on the site or by email: metal.ural.96@gmail.com.

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.

words.expert — сайт и расширение для браузера для изучения английских слов с интервальными повторениями. Здесь описано, какие данные они используют и зачем. Мы не продаём данные, не показываем рекламу и не используем сервисы аналитики и слежения.
Какие данные мы храним
- Аккаунт: ваш email и имя. Вход обеспечивает Google Firebase Authentication (email и пароль или вход через Google); ваш пароль мы не видим.
- Данные обучения: слова и значения в вашем списке, колоды, история и расписание повторений, статистика и настройки.
- Обратная связь: сообщения, которые вы отправляете через форму обратной связи, с вашим именем и email — чтобы мы могли ответить.
- Ключи AI: если вы добавили ключ API для AI-анализа (Claude, ChatGPT и др.), он сохраняется в настройках вашего аккаунта, чтобы работать на всех ваших устройствах, и используется только для ваших AI-запросов.
- Ключ расширения: если вы подключили расширение — хэш вашего личного ключа (сам ключ показывается вам только один раз).
- Технические данные: cookie сессии, чтобы вы оставались в аккаунте, и локальное хранилище браузера с копией ваших данных, чтобы сайт работал быстро. Веб-сервер ведёт стандартные журналы обращений.
Расширение для браузера
- Расширение работает на открытых вами страницах, чтобы можно было дважды щёлкнуть или выделить английское слово. Само по себе оно не читает и не отправляет содержимое страниц.
- На words.expert отправляется только выделенное вами слово или короткая фраза (до четырёх слов) — чтобы найти перевод; при нажатии «+ Learn» или «Ask to add» это слово добавляется в ваш список или в наш список «нет в словаре».
- Расширение хранит ваш ключ и настройки отображения в хранилище расширений браузера. Оно ничего не отправляет никуда, кроме words.expert.
Сторонние сервисы
- Google Firebase Authentication — вход в аккаунт.
- Google Fonts, Google gstatic и jsDelivr — шрифты и программные библиотеки, которые загружает сайт.
- YouGlish и YouTube — видео с произношением; загружаются, только когда вы открываете их в карточке слова. Эти сервисы могут ставить свои cookie по своим правилам.
- Ссылки на словари Cambridge, Merriam-Webster и Oxford открывают их собственные сайты.
Где и сколько хранятся данные
Данные хранятся на нашем собственном сервере, пока существует ваш аккаунт. Вы в любой момент можете попросить удалить аккаунт и все данные — мы сделаем это в течение 30 дней.
